Malaga has a total of 310 thousand hectares of Useful Agricultural Area (UAA), of which 25% is arable land, 51% are woody crops and 24% are permanent pastures. Olive, almond and citrus trees are the most important agricultural crops. However, the growing plantation of hectares of tropical climate fruit trees in the rural farms of Malaga, such as avocado or mango, have turned the Axarquia region into the largest producer in Europe.
