Cordoba is the fourth province with the largest Useful Agricultural Area (UAA), with a total of 990 thousand hectares, of which 41% are woody crops, 36% arable land and 23% permanent pasture. In terms of agriculture, it is the second province with the second largest area dedicated to permanent or woody crops, only behind Jaén, and olive groves and oil production. There is also a predominance of hard and soft wheat, sunflower and cotton crops. With almost 7,000 livestock farms, this province stands out for its pig and cattle farming. The Pedroches Valley, full of ancient oaks, is a unique enclave where more than 250,000 heads of Iberian pigs are raised and from which the famous high quality Iberian ham is obtained. Hunting takes place mainly in the Sierra de Hornachuelos, where there are large farms with species such as wild boar, deer, mouflon, partridge, rabbit or hare.
